Chrysler recalls 242.000 Ram pickup

DETROIT — Chrysler is recalling nearly 250,000 pickup Ram because some evil in the steering system can cause drivers to lose control of the truck.

The Ram is the best-selling Chrysler vehicle. The recall covers 242.780 pickup Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 years 2008-2011 model.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Wednesday on its website that one side near the front left wheel can potentially cause accidents and fracture.

This problem occurs mainly at low speeds when drivers are making tight turns. Chrysler says drivers have reported some minor incidents and a minor injury.

Affected models include 2008-2011 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup four-wheel and 2008-2011 Ram 3500 cabs two-wheel drive chassis comprised February 14, 2008 until March 28, 2011.

Also affected are 2008 Ram 1500 mega cab 4 wheel drive models manufactured from February 14, 2008 to August 15, 2008.

Furthermore, Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks made from 2003 through 2008 model year might remember itself was replaced by mechanical during regular service.

Chrysler Group LLC sold more than 734.000 pickup Ram from 2008 until June 2011, according to Autodata Corp. The 1500 is the standard, while the Ram 2500 and 3500 models designed for heavier tasks.

Chrysler dealers inspect the truck and will replace the outer tie rod and left align wheels for free if necessary.
