F1: Heidfeld relaxed brings his F1 future

Nick Heidfeld, RenaultNick Heidfeld believes he has made enough this season to convince the formula 1 teams that deserves a place next year.

The German driver, who was without a seat racing until the start of the season, was drafted in to replace Robert Kubica at Renault after the accident at the Pole during a rally in February.

Heidfeld scored a podium for Renault in the second race of the year, but has been able to emulate that kind of performance since then.

Heidfeld was replaced with Bruno Senna on the first morning practice for the Grand Prix Hungary, while the praise of Romain Grosjean by head of team Eric Boullier has triggered speculation that the French would take Heidfeld seat this year.

Heidfeld said, however, that his season was not perfect, but it is quiet about his future.

"I'm happy with where I am with the team." I think we all have well, "said Heidfeld Thursday." "Bruno Gets the opportunity to lead here, and I think that Eric said Grosjean is doing a good job in GP2 but this does not mean that it is going to take my seat".

And added: "I do not think that it has so far been a perfect season, but I think it has been good and certainly good enough to fight for a seat next year." Obviously keep on pushing and try to do everything and then we'll see what happens. "

The German admitted his performance rating has not been great this season, but he says he has learned a lot and we are moving all the time.

"I believe that there has been some very good results." Obviously there are some races where he had some problems in Barcelona, where the car was burned in the standings, but still finished eighth.

"In general I think he did well." I think that classification does not always maximize the potential, but I learned a lot about it and has been better. It is only little things but explains why a little fighting.
