Scott Speed will return to the Sprint Cup of NASCAR when it tries to qualify for the Brickyard 400 on Sunday at the at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Former American formula one driver was left without a seat at the end of 2010 once he was released by Red Bull Racing after two seasons in the top NASCAR series.
Speed join Max Q Motorsports team driving a Ford Fusion race this weekend in Indianapolis.
"I am excited to return to the track," speed said. "Max Q Motorsports seem to have a good performance and a great group of guys working in 37".
"Ford has a great engine package for what you trust that I can get the ball rolling quickly and be competitive in the door."
Car # 37 which will boost the speed is the 39th in the Sprint Cup owner points, which means that the American will have to qualify at time this weekend.
"We are very pleased to have Scott Speed join us", said Larry Gunselman, Max Q Motorsports owner.
"He has shown great talent in a small period of time in stock cars and with the correct operation, I believe that things can really take off." "We are going to start, focusing on the classification and go from there."
